Fr Kuriakose Elias Chavara was appointed the first Prior of the Congregation of Carmalites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), which is the first indigenous religios congregation of India. The religious life organised by the founder Fathers was a life of communion with God, making the Word their food and drink.
